SCARAB - PORTRAIT OF A MAN

a theatrical concert production,
story of creation based on ancient egyptian mythology interpreted through modern cosmology
using the latest 3D technologies, combining the animations with live dance and music.

Scarab,

God of Becoming in Ancient Egypt, a tiny seed - the first cell of Universe
which evolves into a complex organism.
From the depths of dark cosmic ocean it's journey begins, towards the surface.
Being constantly chased by the Predator, Scarab is in quest for solution.
Through countless transformations and aspects of existence it finally reaches
Dry Land where hunted becomes the hunter - a Man.

Scarab - Portrait of a Man is a major project under development by 12:14 Productions
to be completed by 2012 and staged in specially constructed Temple Hall where ancient mythology will be brought to life by using contemporary technology.

About the production.

A specially constructed stage is separated from the audience by a thin removable mirror panel (used in the beginning of the production), behind which two separate stages are
located - lower stage for the dancers and higher stage for the orchestra.

Behind the removable mirror panel is Eyeliner Holographic 3D Projection Screen, where
all animatated and pre-filmed images are projected.

Between the two stages is a see-through cosmic background screen, which enables to create extra depth for all visuals, so that together with the dancers and musicians on both sides of the screen a blend of live and animated 3D images is created.

By lighting different areas of the two stages, the divisions allow to show the audience
the musicians, dancers and animations separately, or all combined - depending which episode or segment of the production is in focus.

The storyline of Scarab is presented by spoken word and 2d animations -
the images from Egyptian temple walls, which link the ancient mythology
with the modern interpretation, music, dance, 3d animations and special effects.

Below is an example how different segments of the production will be sequenced in 5 layers, combining the mythological animated images with more modern 3d animations, live dance and music, to produce one final synchronized production layer.
